It seems the area has been very busy these past couple of months getting the word of Al-Anon and Alateen out there. Way to go everyone, keep up the FANTASTIC work!!!!

A committee of 3 has been formed and have been pretty busy.
Literature consisting of pamphlets, meeting lists, etc. have been delivered to a local AA group, CMHA, churches, a Psychologist, the bulletin board of a local Community Hospital, Detox Center, Addictions Services, Tri-County Mental Health, Child and Youth Counselling Services, A local College, Immigration Resource Center( literature in Tamil, Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and Spanish),
an Alternative School, OPP, Library, and Doctors slots at a local Hospital.
An Al-Anon display was set up in the Library for the month of October.
GR's emailed each month with simple ideas of Public Outreach that could be done.

3 members attended an Intermediate School and showed the Alateen video and the PSA sketches. Papers were handed out for questions to be written down on. "What's drunk Mama?"
was read to alot of nodding heads, and literature was left with the Guidance Counsellor.
"How Al-Anon Works" donated by Public Outreach to the Rural Library branch.
"Hope for Children of Alcoholics" donated by Unity Alateen Group to the Rural Library branch.
"Forum" subscription donated by Unity Alateen Group to the Rural Library branch.

Catherine R. shared her experience, strength and hope to 3 large groups for 35-40 minutes.
Louise L. shared to a class of students at a local Private School about Al-Anon and Alateen.
Members participated in 7 of the Catholic Schools Regional annual Health and Drug and Alcohol Awareness Assemblies. Each school had a table set up with meeting lists, and lots of different Alateen literature. An assortment of literature was left with the Guidance Counselors of each school. These assemblies were held over the lunch hours, and the feedback was positive.
Janice W. participated in 3 kick off sessions for Health Fairs for the Regions District Catholic School Board. information on Alateen was presented to groups of 50 students and 5 Teachers.
Binders of Alateen Materials were prepared and distributed to 16 Schools for their "Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving" and Guidance Office.
3 presentations given at the"Drug and Alcohol Awareness Forum" at a local High School hosted by the Vice Principal.
Visits to 2 Doctors Offices with pamphlets and literature about Al-Anon and Alateen.

(YWCA, Credit Union, AA Intergroup, Elizabeth Fry Society, Lawyers, Newspaper, Churches, Health Clinics, School Board, United Way, Red Cross).
An Information Night was held for professionals interested in learning about Al-Anon and Alateen.
Two members attended the local Native Friendship Center and shared their experience, strength and hope with a group of children. The experience was very positive for all. Each youth was given an Alateen newcomers package and Crying House Bookmark.
Forum magazines left at the local YMCA.
Crying House Bookmarks left on Bulletin Board of Grocery Store.
Two Posters left with local Police Department.
